Description of assignment

The Supply Chain department within Vanderlande's Distribution domain needs earlier and more reliable visibility into the workload generated by upcoming customer projects. Currently, commercial and project outlooks are not translated early enough into expected quantities of components, subassemblies, manufacturing/assembly hours, and supplier capacity. Because the final Engineering Bill of Materials (EBOM) arrives late in the process, it limits our ability to secure long-lead items, level-load factories, and prepare an executable supply plan.

In this strategic assignment, you will explore, design, and pilot a Planning Bill of Materials (PBOM). The PBOM is a high-level, planning-level product structure that converts early, uncertain project demand into a time-phased supply and capacity outlook (3–18 months) before final engineering designs are frozen. You will define the conceptual data architecture, connect project outlooks with production requirements, run pilot scenarios across key product lines (e.g., Conveyors and Sorters), and create an analytical prototype dashboard. Your work will accelerate Vanderlande's transition from project-centric execution to a product-led, highly scalable supply chain.

Department description

You will join the Distribution Supply team in Veghel, where Planning, Product Supply Management, Execution, Manufacturing, Distribution Centers, Quality, and Technology collaborate seamlessly.

The department is driving digital supply chain transformation, including integrated S&OP/S&OE, product-level performance steering, critical-component planning, and standardized pre-assembly. You will work alongside experienced supply chain architects and managers in an open, innovative, and data-driven environment.

Tasks/responsibilities

Perform a current-state assessment and map demand, BOM, planning, and capacity information flows

Define the PBOM concept, data model, and high-level process architecture, including links to PLM, ERP, and planning tools

Build representative PBOMs for multiple product families (e.g., Conveying, Loopsorter, Linesorter) and test them against upcoming project pipelines

Build a prototype dashboard or analytical view to run what-if scenarios regarding volume, project timing, and supply constraints

Propose master-data ownership, governance, data-quality controls, and decision rights across cross-functional teams
