Master Thesis, 30 hp: Advanced mathematical transforms for new signal processing methods in radar systems

Saab · Göteborg; Sweden

Posted · Deadline:

Project description

Are you a student eager to apply your theoretical knowledge and fresh perspectives to real-world challenges? At Saab, we believe that innovation thrives on new ideas, and your master thesis project could be the spark that ignites our next technological breakthrough.Your roleWe recognize the immense value that students bring to our company. Your academic rigor, combined with your enthusiasm for cutting-edge technology, allows you to approach problems with a unique and insightful lens. At Saab, you'll have the opportunity to collaborate with experienced engineers and specialists, gaining invaluable practical experience while making a tangible contribution to our growth and development.BackgroundImprovements in computational power and resources in a radar system now allow for new and more advanced types of mathematical transformations. These transformations can be used as a foundation for new radar signal processing methods. In earlier radar systems, such transformations and signal processing based on these, have been hindered by limits in both analog and digital electronics. With emerging radar systems, this situation is now changing and versions of these transformations are now becoming feasible.Description of the Thesis ProjectThis master thesis will be centered around the study of transformations dealing with target dynamics exceeding standard assumptions in a variety of scenarios. The scope of this master thesis is:Review of a set of advanced mathematical transformationsAnalysis concerning the applicability of these transformations for a set of radar modes and systemsEvaluation of computational complexity for a set of radar modes and systemsEvaluation of radar performance for a set of radar modes and systemsYour profileThe master thesis includes modelling and simulations in Matlab or similar software. It also includes reviewing a set of publications for given transformations (multiple such exist in the public domain, the thesis supervisors will help select the most relevant for this master thesis). This master thesis is suitable for 2 students with an interest in mathematics and signal processing, and with a background in Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Physics, Electrical Engineering, or similar. We provide the support and guidance you need to translate your theoretical knowledge into practical solutions. Join us and become a driving force behind Saab's technological advancements! This position requires that you pass a security vetting based on the current regulations around/of security protection. For positions requiring security clearance additional obligations on citizenship may apply.Kindly observe that this is an ongoing recruitment process and that the position might be filled before the closing date of the advertisement. What you will be a part ofExplore a wealth of possibilities. Take on challenges, create smart inventions, and grow beyond. This is a place for curious minds, brave pioneers, and everyone in between.
